DEADFACE CTF — Terms & Conditions

DEADFACE CTF (“the Competition”) is operated and maintained by Cyber Hacktics, a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to cybersecurity education and awareness. By registering for or participating in the Competition, you (“Participant” or “User”) agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Participation in the Competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions and all posted rules, announcements, and clarifications on the Competition website and official Discord. If you do not agree, do not participate.
2. Eligibility
- The Competition is open worldwide unless prohibited by local law.
- Participants must be at least 13 years old; those under 18 must have parent/guardian consent.
- By participating, you represent that your participation does not violate any laws or organizational policies applicable to you.
3. Registration & Accounts
- Registration requires a username and valid email address.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account.
- Impersonation, false affiliation claims, or account sharing (outside explicit allowances) is prohibited.
4. Teams
- Teams must register a unique team name and designate a team captain.
- Any team size limits, eligibility constraints, or roster lock times will be stated on the registration page or official announcements.
- Teams may consist of up to
10 players
. - Participants may not compete on more than one team.
5. Rules & Code of Conduct
5.1 Rules
To ensure a safe and fun event, the following activity is prohibited. Participants MUST NOT:
- Attempt to hack or manipulate off-limits devices and resources. Off-limits targets include:

- Any system or resource not affiliated with DEADFACE CTF or the event’s infrastructure (when in doubt, ask
@Staff
on Discord). - Other participants or their systems/devices.
- Manipulate or modify flags in a way that prevents others from scoring.
- Perform Denial-of-Service (DoS/DDoS) or otherwise degrade Competition infrastructure.
- Attack other participants.
- Compete on more than one team.
- Share flags with another team.
- Share an account with another player or team.
Definition of “attack”: any activity that renders resources unavailable or disrupts other participants’ ability to advance in the Competition.
Participants will generally receive a warning for a first infraction. Repeated or serious infractions may result in immediate disqualification. Discord moderators may ban participants at their discretion. For questions, contact @Staff

5.2 Code of Conduct
Cyber Hacktics is committed to a safe, positive environment for all Users—free from discrimination based on sex, physical appearance, race, religion, age, economic status, or cultural background. We strive to foster intellectual diversity and learning.
Be Respectful, Patient, and Constructive
DEADFACE CTF is volunteer-driven and designed for growth at all skill levels. Not everyone shares the same experience or background. Please be respectful of all Users and offer constructive feedback. Be mindful of diverse cultures and comfort levels around language and behavior.
- Be considerate and respectful.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior or speech.
- Notify DEADFACE CTF Staff if you notice unacceptable behavior.
Unacceptable Behavior Policy
Users must refrain from disrespectful, disruptive, or unlawful activity. Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Publishing or sharing sensitive, personal, or private information about any participant without explicit consent.
- Publishing or sharing intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning material about any participant.
- Engaging in intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct toward any User or organizer.
- Gratuitous, unwelcome sexual imagery, behavior, or discussion (note that minors may participate and may be present in Discord).
- Displaying discriminatory symbols or slogans.
Reporting Unacceptable Behavior
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, or have concerns, contact a DEADFACE CTF Staff member promptly. All reports are treated as confidential.

When reporting, include:
- Your contact information
- Relevant usernames (Discord and/or DEADFACE CTF)
- A detailed description of the incident (including names, screenshots, etc.)
- Any additional helpful information
After a report is filed, Staff will follow up, review the incident, and determine an appropriate response. Reports remain confidential.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Users notified by Staff are expected to comply immediately. Organizers may take any action deemed appropriate, up to and including removal from Discord and expulsion from the Competition. For conflicts regarding interpretation, contact abuse@cyberhacktics.com.
6. Fair Play & Score Integrity
- Flags must be obtained through legitimate completion of challenges.
- Sharing or selling flags/solutions publicly before Competition end is prohibited.
- Brute forcing the scoreboard, automating submissions to degrade service, or exploiting unintended platform vulnerabilities is forbidden.
- Organizers may audit logs and submissions to verify integrity.
7. Privacy & Data Use
- Cyber Hacktics collects limited personal data (e.g., username, email) necessary to operate the Competition.
- Game traffic and submissions may be logged for scoring, security, and auditing.
- Data is not sold and is shared only as necessary to operate or secure the event.
8. Intellectual Property
- All challenges, infrastructure, and content are the property of Cyber Hacktics and its contributors.
- Reproduction or reuse outside the Competition requires prior written permission.
- Participant names, team names, and submitted write-ups remain the property of their creators; by submitting write-ups to official channels, you grant Cyber Hacktics a non-exclusive license to feature them for educational purposes with attribution.

- Winners are responsible for any taxes, duties, or legal requirements.
- Cyber Hacktics may substitute prizes of equal value or withhold prizes where prohibited by law.
- Identity and eligibility verification may be required before prize distribution.
10. Enforcement & Disqualification
- Organizers reserve the right to warn, restrict, disqualify, or ban Participants for violations of these Terms, at their sole discretion.
- Findings may be based on logs, telemetry, and Staff observations; decisions are final.
- Failure to follow Staff directions or attempts to circumvent enforcement may result in immediate expulsion.
11. Warranty Disclaimer
The Competition and all related services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cyber Hacktics, its volunteers, contributors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue arising from or related to participation in the Competition.
13. Changes to the Terms
Cyber Hacktics may update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be announced on official channels.
